Our 5th grade classes have been working on testing simple catapults using knowledge that they have gained through experimental design. We have worked with pre-made catapults thus far and we are now on to designing our own. In this day and age some people have brought back the art of catapults for amusement. Do any of you know what they are using them for? Reply via post to the blog if you think you know what they are being used for today!!! I will give you a hint. They are being used to propel a common fall fruit.
I can't wait to see your responses.

I think that we will use the catapults to knock down a wall of apples protecting Rome.

hi mr. e i am pretty sure this is the hw but i am not sure. Anyway here is my answer i think that they are bringing back catapults to fling pumpkins to people now this is fun they sometimes use watermelons but mostly pumpkins. The middle schoolers here at RA used to do this as a activity for fun!!!!

i think nwe can use the catopults to knock down a wall of oranges surrounding china.
I do not know what why they used it for amusement, but I think that they used it 2 pelt stuff at people that they wanted to annoy. I think that we will use them 2 catapult apples at Rome, since we are trying to sack Rome. I picked apples because I pick them in the fall, & they are pretty heavy.

Hi
i think that we can use our catapults if we have the right ammo (soda bottles) we can make Europe (Except Germany) drown in a massive soda flood. That would be funny.
HA HA HA AH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA AHA HA HA HA HA!
see ya tomorrow guys!
HA HA
Glass soda bottles
I think people use them to catapult apples, because my friend did that once. People in circuses catapult clowns into the air too!
I really don't know but i will take my best guess.......fall fruits are apples, pumpkins, and pears so it would have to be one of thoses fruits that you fling. Now the most common of the fruits i just listed is an apple so i will go with apple. There might be a type of game you play where the person who flings an apple the farthest wins or something. But other wise I'm not sure, i don't know of any catapult games!

I think they're being used for the apple slingshot for special events.
I think that they are catapulting lemons and limes to squirt the sour juice into the enemys eyes and blind them.
Well, I found pictures of kids building a catapult and using them to launch apples down a hill. They called it a Trebuchet.
I think we are going see who can fling acorns the farthest down a hill,
P.S I don't know if nuts are fruits!?
I have been to Ambler Farm day where a man who had built his own huge catapult launched giant pumpkins about a hundred feet. I think we are going launch at apples, pears, or mini pumpkins -jay
i think we will fire apples at a wall of plastic cups. i have seen people have contests where people make a catapult and they fire pumpkins out of them. The pumpkin that goes the farthest wins (and so does the person who made the catapult it was flung out of). The winner recieves a prize.
Look at my blog profile please. You can do so by clicking on my name. Thank you, and have a nice night.
I think we could knock down a wall of pomegrantates surrounding Portugal.
Hey Mr. E.,
In Delaware, there is the "World Championship Punkin Chunkin" contest. They take big pumpkins and shoot them for long-distance. They use VERY big catapults!

:D
I think that pumpkins are catapulted for entertainment. When the pumpkin hits the ground it explodes and the seeds come flying out.
hi mr. e...i think they use catapults for entertainment and stuff. also i looked up something online and found out that in Delaware they have a competition to see who can fling a pumpkin the farthest!
